A review on accommodations:
1) Samesun Banff, Alberta - Near amenities, well equipped kitchen with common room full of games, books and tv. The only down side is that other travellers seem to be very inconsiderate, but that depends solely on luck. Breakfast is included, nothing amazing, just basic.
2) Budget Host Inn NAU/ Downtown Flagstaff - A decent motel, breakfast was minimal.
3) The Grand Hotel at the Grand Canyon - One of the best hotel that I have stayed in. Even though breakfast was not included in the stay, will all the amenities from gym to jacuzzi pool, to the soap provided in the bathroom, everything else was amazing and comfortable. You can prebook taxis to the Grand Canyon a night before.
4) Quality Inn at Lake Powell - Very basic hotel, staff are not very helpful or responsive. Breakfast was brilliant.
5) Page Boy Motel - A decent motel, breakfast was basic. Staff was very polite and go to lengths to help you. The only down side is that wifi is really weak and reception closes at 4pm on winter seasons, so you have to get everything you need before that time.Getting around Alberta is easy. Public transport runs throughout the year, even in winter. Hiking trails are very well maintained. For more info on public transport around Banff, visit: http://roamtransit.com/
Getting around Grand Canyon is costly as the only way around during winter season is by taxi. There are shuttle buses during the summer. Hiking trails are open throughout all season, but only the South Rim is open all year round.
Getting around Page and Arizona is difficult if you do not have a car. Tours are recommended, but may be costly, especially during the low season (winter), tours might cancel upon you or require you to pay double the amount to function.
